mystikal pleads guilty to sexual battery???-the discussion

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (AP) -- Grammy-nominated rapper Mystikal pleaded guilty Thursday to charges that he forced his hairstylist to perform sex acts on him and two bodyguards.

Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, had been charged with aggravated rape, which carries a sentence of life in prison if convicted. He agreed to plead guilty to extortion and a sexual battery charge.

He was sentenced to five years probation for extortion and has a September 25 sentencing date for the second charge, sexual battery of the infirmed.

Prosecutor Sue Bernie said Tyler confronted his hairdresser in his Baton Rouge apartment last July and accused her of stealing checks from him. Tyler told the woman he would not tell police about the checks if she did something "degrading" for him, Bernie said.

Tyler told her to perform oral sex on him and Leland "Pokie" Ellis, 37, and Vercy "V" Carter, 35, Bernie said. The men videotaped the sex acts, which Bernie said included intercourse.

Tyler`s attorney, David Bourland, said his client did not agree with all the allegations, but agreed that sexual battery took place.

"I`m glad that it`s getting behind me," the rapper said after his guilty plea.

Extortion charges against Ellis and Carter were dropped as part of plea agreements. Ellis and Carter also pleaded guilty to sexual battery and will be sentenced September 25.

Mystikal`s record "Tarantula" was nominated for a best rap album Grammy in January.

Sexual Battery/Assult
I read a few of the posted messages and am completely digusted. What type of society are we representing ourselves as if we can condoan barbaric behavior because the aggressor is someone we all know and appreciate for being in the lime light? We should hold the `Red Carpeteers` to the highest of standards and if they fail 2 support us morally, we need 2 boycott their product because when we continue 2 support them, our cihldren are being told (non-verbally) that their behavior is appropriate when it is not! WE MUST TAKE BACK OUR COMMUNITIES, CREATIVITY AND MORAL RESPONSIBILITY!!!!

WE ALL KNOW ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY, WHEN THEY LET THE REAL ARTISTS OUT AND NOT THESE HOMO THUGS THEN HIP HOP WILL EVOLVE POSITIVELY TO THE NEXT LEVEL.... HOWEVER IF THEY WANT TO CONTINUE WITH THESE NUM NUTTS THEN THE EVOLUTION WILL BE AN INVOLUTION. WHICH WILL ONLY PROMOTE REVOLUTION.
EITHER WAY...
SEE THEY LIKE IT THAT THESE SILLY NO HOME TRAININ *bleep* HALF TALENTED DIK HEADS LITERALLY ARE RAPPIN, SO THEY CAN PIMP THEM AND THEN, WELL"THEY`LL END UP IN JAIL ANYWAYS...type shyt. HOWEVER THERE ARE MANY OF US WHO ARE FED UP WITH THIS SHYT... AND WANT REAL MUSIC TO LIBERATE OUR PEOPLE...like fukk a 50cent WHO IS 10 YEARS TO LATE.
WE AS A PEOPLE NEED HELP.

I don't believe these charges. i find it hard being that Mystikal lost his blood sister to a similiar act of violence. I'm not too sure of these charges.
I do know that it will take more than HIP HOP to restore all the ills we have have as a community. Reality is the Revolution died along with the real freedom riders and fighters of the 60's.
Growth manifested itself in the middle class "Cosby Show society", along with intergration, affirmitive action and any other cause during that period. We lost the true warriors to capitolist society we live in. They were given jobs and advancements to pacify. And thus is why we have no leaders today.
So the majority look for leadership in entertainers. Seems logical right being that they are in the spotlight but is this correct? who knows. I just know that Revolution is over rated in this time(2003) because not many people born after 1970 really know what struggle is let alone REVOLUTION!.
